Lancaster County board approves engineering supplements to advance South 68th Street roundabout

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Jan. 6 to authorize several professional-services supplements and Nebraska Department of Transportation agreements to advance engineering work on South 68th Street, including design work for a roundabout at Princeton and South 68th.

Pam described the item as “the $15,000 adder to South 68th Street. This is for the engineering of the addition of the roundabout at Princeton and South 68th Street,” and the board approved a supplement not to exceed $15,717.68 for that engineering work. The board also approved earlier supplements with the same engineering firm and a responsible-charge services agreement with NDOT to keep the federal-aid project moving.

The supplements approved include a professional-services agreement supplement with Felsburg, Holt, and Olvig for additional preliminary engineering (supplement 4) and a separate contract amendment to county contract C-22-0509 with NDOT in an amount not to exceed $69,346.75. One earlier Felsburg supplement was approved in an amount not to exceed $13,400.

Commissioners Matt Schulty, Sean Flower Day and Chelsea Johnson cast unanimous roll-call votes in favor, joined by Chair Rick Vest. The board framed the approvals as steps to continue project development; no members opposed the measures.

Next steps: the agreements authorize further preliminary engineering and NDOT coordination. County staff will proceed with the engineering exhibits and NDOT-required responsible-charge procedures for the federal-aid project.
