Rothschild approves two-year Ayres contract to secure building-footprint GIS data

The Village of Rothschild approved a two-year contract with Ayres on Jan. 27, 2025, to obtain building-footprint data tied to a Marathon County aerial flyover. Public-works staff described a county grant that covers the aerial imagery but not additional data layers; Marathon County proposed that Rothschild contract Ayres for building footprints in exchange for sharing the countys high-definition aerials covering the village.
Timothy Vergara proposed splitting the Ayres cost into two years: $5,000 in 2025 and $5,800 in 2026, for a total of $10,800. Because the discussion came after the budget was set, Vergara proposed using $5,000 from the parks ball-diamonds budget for 2025 and indicated remaining ball-diamonds work could proceed within the reduced allocation.
Trustees approved the contract and the proposed funding approach 6-0. Vergara said the village otherwise contracting directly for full aerials and footprints would cost about $20,000.
Staff will coordinate with Marathon County GIS to complete the data trade and implement the new building-footprint layer for village use.
