Committee approves agenda and minutes, reviews vouchers and hazard plan; moves into closed session over law-enforcement contract

At its Nov. 4 meeting, the Marquette County Judicial & Public Safety Committee approved the meeting agenda and the Oct. 7, 2025 minutes. Committee members reviewed Sheriff’s Office vouchers (a reconciliation overage was noted), and the Clerk of Court reported that jury trials are resolved through the end of 2025 while the district attorney said a jury trial is scheduled for late January/early February.
Emergency Management Director Lt. Aaron Williams said a multi-agency Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement exercise is planned for May 2026 and that the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan is complete and will be submitted to the state. Sheriff Joe Konrath reported the department is fully staffed and that construction on a 911 dispatch center began this week.
Administrator Ron Barger said an amended Law Enforcement Contract discussed with the city mayor has not been signed; the committee voted to go into closed session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(e) to continue contract discussions and reconvened later in open session under § 19.85(2). The committee set its next meeting for Dec. 2, 2025, to include a jail tour in coordination with the Property Committee, and adjourned at 3:34 p.m.
