At the Nov. 3 Marquette County Department of Human Services meeting, Veterans Services Officer Brandon Enck reported that federal government shutdown activity has slowed U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs processing and that the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs office in Green Bay temporarily closed.
Enck told the board his office closed 13 cases during the reporting period and that two veterans died. He said the federal slowdown has delayed benefit processing and added that the VA is increasing funding aimed at combating veteran homelessness. Enck also noted he attended the CVSO fall conference and flagged Veterans Day as an upcoming observance.
Board members did not take formal action on veterans services at the meeting; Enck’s report was informational.
