St. Martinville council declares five properties public nuisances, orders owners to abate

Planning & Zoning Coordinator Otis Chatman presented inspection reports prepared by City Inspector Rodney Richard that, he said, showed the properties constituted a "public safety hazard." Based on that evidence the council voted to condemn and seek demolition of the listed properties. The motion was made by Councilman Mike Fuselier, seconded by Councilwoman Janise Anthony, and carried unanimously.
The properties named in the inspection reports were: 215 Mary Ann (Ellis Guillory, Sr. & Dianna Guillory); 322 Columbus (Karl Boudreaux & Blair Marie); 220 Denbas (Parfait Robertson Jr.); 311 W. Madison (Deborah Melancon Rentals LLC; parcel 15801J2535); and 315 W. Madison (Deborah Melancon Rentals LLC; parcel 15801J2535). The council did not record individual roll-call votes beyond reporting unanimous approval.
Council members asked that property owners be notified and that staff continue documentation. Planning & Zoning Coordinator Otis Chatman was instructed to provide photographs to the council at future meetings and to coordinate any follow-up inspections. The council did not set demolition timelines during the meeting.
