Commissioner Gary Dufel proposed striking the word, saying the adjective could prompt uncertainty about what makes a wildlife habitat "unique." Chairman Matthew Rose and Commissioner Geoff Herald signaled agreement during discussion; no members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The commission opened and closed a public hearing on the proposed revisions at the June 10 meeting and then voted to adopt the change. Commissioner Geoff Herald moved approval; Commissioner Elizabeth Falk seconded. The motion passed by unanimous roll call with Ayes from Gary Dufel, Elizabeth Falk, John Schwartz, Geoff Herald, Mark Massoud, Cristina Britton, and Matthew Rose.
Environmental Compliance Inspector Larry Liebman and members thanked Commissioner Falk for leading the working group that drafted the revisions. The change is editorial and limited to the wording of the definition; the commission recorded no public opposition at the hearing. The amendment will be incorporated into the regulations as approved at the June 10 meeting.
