Macedonia Planning Commission approves two sign permits, continues two conditional-use items and approves minutes

Macedonia — At its June 15 meeting the Planning Commission took several procedural and permit actions: it approved two sign permit applications, continued two conditional-use items to allow applicants to supply more documentation, and approved past meeting minutes.
Sign permits: The commission approved a Greystone Village monument-sign modification to replace bulk signs with stud-mounted aluminum letters on the existing brick entrance, contingent on the city’s administrative check whether a variance was previously granted for a second entrance sign. Kevin Holiday, representing the sign contractor, described the proposed letters and dimensions and said the new signs would be smaller and flush-mounted to the brick. The commission asked staff to confirm whether the two-sign configuration had previously been authorized; if no variance exists the applicant must either remove one sign or obtain a variance from the Board of Zoning Appeals.
The commission also approved an aluminum cabinet sign for Divinity Landing (10439 Valley Road). Eric Kramer of ASI Signage described the unlit sign and the applicant’s plan to landscape around its base; staff said the revised location addresses earlier off-premise concerns and the sign meets setback and area requirements in the submitted configuration.
Continuances and minutes: The hearing for a proposed training and business operations center at 316 East Highland (applicant represented by Art Schulty) was continued at the applicant’s request to the August meeting to allow the applicant to submit updated drawings and a traffic report. The commission also approved the minutes of the May 18 meeting.
