Weld County commissioners approve dispatch agreements, Motorola amendments, road closures and first reading of small‑business incentive ordinance

Weld County commissioners on June 29 approved a series of routine contracts, property actions and policy steps aimed at improving public safety communications and county infrastructure.
Christina Pal of Public Safety Communications requested board approval for a standard dispatch user agreement template to streamline roughly 40 agency agreements and for a regional channel‑sharing memorandum of understanding to allow outside public‑safety agencies to access Weld County radio channels; the board approved both templates and authorized the chair to sign future documents.
The board also approved two amendments to the county’s Motorola Solutions maintenance agreement. Amendment No. 3 (Contract ID 10855) formally adds radio consoles in the jail and court to the maintenance agreement; the 2026 cost listed was $11,693. Amendment No. 4 (Contract ID 10856) adds Westminster and Broomfield sites to the agreement; the transcript lists 2026 billings of $51,579 to Westminster and $19,45 (transcript truncated) to Broomfield. Commissioners approved both amendments by voice vote.
County accounting presented a list of items to be declared surplus and sold at auction through Roller & Associates; the board approved the sales and delegated signature authority to the controller. Public Works requested acquisition of 5.257 acres of right of way and 3.55 acres of temporary construction easement for the County Road 74 and 31 intersection roundabout (Contract ID 10886). The negotiated compensation to the landowner was stated as $124,889.30 and was included in the 2026 public works budget; the board approved the acquisition.
Public Works also presented and the board approved plans for a temporary closure of County Road 29 (July 20–Oct. 30) for final paving and the extension of a temporary closure of County Road 70 (from July 10 to July 17) for bridge redeck work. The board granted a right‑of‑entry resolution under the Colorado Weed Management Act for county vegetation management specialists to enter specified private lands to perform weed control.
On airports, the board approved two airport infrastructure grant agreements related to runway 17/35 rehabilitation (one with a 43% grant share and another at 23%); the chair and county attorney were authorized to sign the agreements. Planning Services Director David Eisen Brown and Rich Werner of Upstate presented ordinance 2026‑10, which repeals and reenacts Chapter 5 to modernize Weld County’s Small Business Incentive Program for unincorporated areas, authorizing reimbursements for eligible infrastructure improvements up to $50,000; commissioners approved the ordinance on first reading.
