Dover trustees approve FY27 holiday calendar, adopt revised borrowing policy and accept $20,000 gift

The Dover Board of Library Trustees on May 12 approved several administrative actions, including the FY27 holiday closure schedule, adoption of an amended Borrowing Policy, and acceptance of a $20,000 gift from the Dover Mothers Association. R. Andrews called the meeting to order at 8:49 a.m. at the Dover Town Library.

The board voted unanimously to approve the previous meeting minutes (motion by L. Migausky, seconded by A. Collins). The trustees then approved the FY27 holiday calendar, adding Saturday, Dec. 26, 2026, and a Town Meeting closure in accordance with the Library’s Town Meeting Policy (motion by R. Andrews, seconded by A. Collins; all in favor). The board discussed staff scheduling accommodations for religious observances during that calendar review.

Trustees adopted the amended Borrowing Policy in a motion by P. Hoffmann, seconded by J. Schulz. The amendment adds language aligned with Minuteman Library Network (MLN) guidance addressing teen borrowing practices; the motion passed unanimously. The board noted that three policies were reviewed over FY26, meeting their stated goal.

The board voted to accept a $20,000 gift from the Dover Mothers Association to be used at the discretion of the Library Director (motion by L. Migausky, seconded by A. Collins). Voting trustees recorded in the minutes were R. Andrews, P. Hoffmann, L. Migausky, C. Ringel and J. Schulz in favor; A. Collins withheld her vote, citing her role on the Dover Mothers Association board. The minutes record no opposing votes.
