Cultural Council backs $500,000 CPA request for Gleason Public Library renovation

Karen Gettings, representing the Friends of Gleason Library, presented the current status of the renovation project and requested the supplemental CPA appropriation. Debbie Bentley, chair of the Carlisle Cultural Council, proposed a motion in support; Dan Lennon seconded the motion. The motion read in part, “The Cultural Council supports the use of CPA funds for the renovation of the Gleason Public Library.” A roll-call vote recorded Debbie Bentley, Dan Lennon, Amanda Kerns, Chris Brenne and Laurelyn Roberts as voting Aye.
The motion does not itself appropriate funds; it records the council’s formal support for placing the CPA request on the Town Meeting warrant. Laurelyn Roberts will present the council’s motion at Town Meeting, where voters will consider the appropriation.
The request for $500,000 is an addition to previously discussed funding for the project; no final appropriation was made by the Cultural Council at the May 4 meeting. The council noted the next procedural step is the Town Meeting warrant and subsequent Town Meeting action.
