Tisbury Board approves septic variances for 57 Hines Point in critical planning area

Staff described the project as an upgrade that replaces two overflow cesspools near Lagoon Pond with a system that includes a tank, pump, denitrification component and leaching field. The variances approved included reducing the required setback from a body of water from 200 feet to 163 feet and allowing the leaching field to be sited within 200 feet of other existing septic systems. Staff said the proposal represented an overall improvement with no increase in flow and noted possible revisions to combine tanks for better performance.
The Board authorized staff to approve reasonable revisions consistent with the Board’s discussion. The motion passed.
