Consultants from Dodson & Flinker presented an updated draft of Charlemont’s Master Plan to the Planning Board on April 17, asking the board and stakeholders to review a collated action plan and return feedback by the following Tuesday.
Shaine Meulmeister, a consultant with Dodson & Flinker, read the draft vision and the plan’s stated goals to the board, and Dillon Sussman, another consultant on the project, explained how the action items are organized by priority rather than by fixed completion dates. "We put priority level but not dates," Sussman said, noting that proposed timelines may depend on funding and capacity.
Member Liz Bouyea asked whether action items could be given target dates; consultants said dates were left off because many tasks require funding or staffing commitments that are not yet secured. The consultants also discussed the format of the draft and how public feedback had been collected and collated.
The consultants left each board member with a copy of the collated action plan, vision statement and future land use maps and asked for comments by the following Tuesday. The board discussed scheduling and an upcoming All-Boards meeting as part of the next steps for finalizing priorities.
The Planning Board did not adopt any changes at the meeting; the consultants and board members agreed to gather feedback and return to the topic in future meetings.
