The Deerfield Board of Assessors approved the 2026 Motor Vehicle Excise Commitment #3 and signed the commitment at its meeting on May 19, 2026, which convened at 7:05 p.m. in Room 117 of Town Hall.
The board, with Frank Leone moving and Skip Sobieski seconding, voted 2–0 to approve the minutes of April 28, 2026, early in the session. Later, the board voted to remove Map 96 Lot 1 from Chapter 61 classification; the motion carried 2–0 after a motion and second by the same members.
The clerk recorded that a written request to remove a decedent’s name from Map 61 Lot 53 would be processed and directed staff to make that administrative change. A separate request for Map 151 Lot 71 was taken up and held with no final disposition recorded.
Board members reviewed business certificates and April deeds, plans and building permits, and approved and signed the 2026 Motor Vehicle Excise Commitment #3. The board also noted motor vehicle excise abatement requests listed in an attached schedule and used a signature stamp to acknowledge the list.
The assessors discussed river encroachment issues affecting Map 129 lots 3 and 3.1 and directed the clerk to send a letter advising the property owner to apply for a fiscal year 2027 abatement. The board reviewed the LA-19 2026 Equalized Valuation Report but took no further action on that item during the meeting.
Before adjourning at 7:50 p.m., the board announced it would enter executive session pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws c.30A, §21(a)(7) to comply with requirements of Chapter 59, §60; the open session concluded at the start of the executive session.
The meeting minutes and administrative actions were recorded by Clerk Karen Menard.
