She told the commission she is coordinating the 5K through student Leo Clubs and local Lions clubs and that organizers are still selecting a beneficiary and reviewing logistics such as road-closure permits.
Town staff present advised that fundraising and accepting donations can be complicated for minors and for volunteer groups. Monica, staff to the commission, read guidance she had received from town leadership: staff had consulted the town clerk, finance director and human-services director and warned there could be complications to accepting monetary donations, but that staff could assist by brainstorming compliant approaches.
