Residents raise traffic‑safety concern at Stuart Mill Road and request security upgrades at leased city building

Cindy Welch (3002 Concord Way) described a near‑accident at the Kohl’s driveway on Stuart Mill Road involving an 18‑wheeler and a vehicle leaving the shopping center, saying the maneuver put motorists at risk and urging the city or county to close the driveway. Mayor Rochelle Robinson acknowledged past reviews of the location and asked the police chief to re‑examine the intersection; the chief said public safety would look into it. No specific remedy was announced at the work session.
Later, Albert Lee (Douglas County Defects Board) said the board leases a city building that is roughly 40–50 years old and currently has intermittent key‑fob access and no cameras. Lee said the board has hired a full‑time security guard because of recent incidents and asked whether the city could assist with upgrades. City Manager Marsha Frazier said the city is in the middle of lease negotiations and that attorneys and staff will address security upgrades as part of that process.
Council thanked both speakers and asked staff to follow up. The work session concluded after public comment; no formal commitments or appropriations were made during the meeting.
