The Mount Pleasant City Council approved a $103,145.50 purchase for a gearbox (Requisition #060226) and a $9,750 purchase for a 200-foot push camera system (Requisition #060126) at its June 9 meeting.
Shane Ward reviewed inspection findings and recommended procuring the gearbox from Motion Industries, Inc. Colter Allen presented the camera system requisition to Owen Equipment. Both requisitions received approval from Councilmen Keisel, Beck and Howcroft.
In staff reports, Colter Allen said the sewer project remains on schedule except for the screening component, and that the new water tank project is progressing well and should be advertised for bids soon. He also reported the sprinkler installation at the Veterans Memorial is nearly complete, and public works continue to address potholes. Shane Ward reported that Power Department training on the Aclara metering system identified billing issues that will need attention; replacement parts for Hydro Unit No. 3 are expected soon and Hydro Unit No. 1 replacement parts are anticipated in October. Surveying work for a transmission project is expected to begin soon.
What happens next: staff will circulate the gearbox inspection report to the council by email for further review; the sewer and water projects will proceed toward bidding and construction milestones as reported.
