Residents press township to fix abused closed connector road and replace temporary bollards

Jennifer Perry, a resident of Landing of Willow Pond, told trustees that temporary bollards blocking a connector road to the new Arbors of Willow Pond subdivision are routinely moved or destroyed, allowing vehicles to drive through lawns and damage landscaping. "People are driving through our yards and just causing a lot of damage and that directly impacts our property values," she said, adding that an Enterprise box truck had driven over bollards and they had to be discarded.

Perry asked the board either to open the road for through traffic or to install a durable, attractive permanent barrier such as inset stainless-steel bollards, substantial landscaping with boulders, or a controlled gate accessible by emergency services. Administrator Mr. Wright told trustees he had exchanged emails with the HOA representative and the developer has been responsive; he said police and fire chiefs support a more substantive, emergency‑accessible barrier. "I agree with Ms. Perry that something has to be done," Mr. Wright said, recommending staff coordinate with the property owners and the HOA before installing landscaping or a gate.

Trustees indicated they would pursue near-term landscaping and boulder placements to stop vehicle incursions and would consider more permanent barricades tied to construction sequencing and emergency access needs. The trustees asked the HOA representative to confirm preferred landscaping before the board acts.

The board did not take formal action tonight; trustees said staff would bring options for possible action at a future meeting.
