School committee approves minutes, moves June meetings and defers pool policy and gala request

The East Longmeadow School Committee on May 11 approved minutes from its April 27 executive and regular sessions, adopted new June meeting dates and deferred several items to future meetings.
Greg Thompson moved to approve the April 27, 2026 executive session minutes; William Strother seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Thompson also moved to approve the April 27 regular session minutes; that motion likewise passed 5-0.
During New Business the committee approved a change to its June schedule. Greg Thompson moved to modify June meetings to June 15 and June 22; William Strother seconded and the committee voted 5-0 to adopt the new dates.
Two agenda items were carried forward for later consideration: a discussion of ELPS Policy KF (Community Use of School Facilities) as it relates to the new ELHS pool and a request from ELEEF to use East Longmeadow High School for the organization’s 2027 gala. Minutes note both items "will be brought back to the next meeting" and record no further action.
Student Representative Anna Flanagan gave a brief report: prom for seniors is scheduled for Friday at Great Horse; the district is in the second week of AP exams; choir and instrumental concerts are May 13 and May 14 respectively; sophomores are scheduled for math MCAS testing next week; and seniors attended a presentation by Hampden’s DA Office about the Stop the Swerve distracted driving program.
