Bern Township supervisors voted unanimously on July 6 to terminate the township's State of Emergency that had been in place for the COVID‑19 pandemic.
The motion to terminate the emergency was made by Supervisor Jeff Thompson and seconded by Supervisor Daniel Tobias; all five supervisors voted yes. Emergency Management representative Mr. Hinkle had presented the department's regular report before the vote.
During the public safety portion of the meeting, Chief of Police Wesley Waugh reported on department activity and requested authorization to send Officer Vincent Mazza to the annual accident reconstruction seminar in Gettysburg, scheduled for Nov. 2–4, 2021. The board approved the training request by motion; the approved travel includes three nights' lodging estimated at $319.68.
The actions were procedural votes recorded in the supervisors' minutes; no alternate motions or recorded dissents were noted. The supervisors received the police and emergency management reports as part of regular oversight.
The board's next regular meeting was set for Aug. 3, 2021 at 7:00 PM.
