At the Aug. 22 Lynchburg‑Clay board meeting, Mr. Sexton provided a series of operational updates.
He said he will send materials about the Capital Conference in November and may ask the board to purchase a new scanner to allow staff and volunteers to complete BCI/FBI background checks at the board office rather than using the ESC or county sheriff. Sexton said he and Mr. Hawk will attend a Highland County Commissioners meeting on Aug. 28 and that Janet Grothe will meet with them afterward to discuss updates on solar projects within the district and the timing for any anticipated pilot revenues.
Sexton reported the marching band has raised $5,500 toward a second band trailer; the estimated cost of the trailer is about $13,000 and he said band leadership may later request board assistance to cover remaining costs. He also stated most construction on new safety walls across district buildings is complete with only small items remaining. On communications, he said new hand‑held radios have been delivered, Mr. Collins will install them on buses over the fair break, and a district training on handheld radios and base systems was scheduled (the transcript records the date as Friday, Aug. 6).
Mr. Faust presented early ideas on athletic ticket pricing and potential new revenues; he plans to return with a formal proposal for the 2025‑26 school year. These items were presented for information; no motions or votes on these operational matters were recorded at the meeting.
