Lynchburg council holds executive session on employment; tables Richard Warner contract to finance committee

Mayor James Burton called an executive session at 6:25 p.m., citing section 121.22(G)(1) for discussion of employment matters. All council members, the mayor and Randalyn Worley attended the closed session. The executive session ended at 6:54 p.m.
After returning to open session, the council tabled consideration of Richard Warner's contract and referred it to the Finance Committee for further discussion on pay and term at its Jan. 16, 2025 meeting. The council also made routine appointments: Judy Davis was appointed chair of the Finance Committee with Christine Hamlin and Chris Toller as members; Ashley Campbell was named chair of the Public Works/Parks/Rec/Economic Development Committee with several council members appointed as committee members. Mayor Burton asked that the Finance Committee meet at least quarterly.
No public petitions were filed during the meeting, and the council adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
