Great Oaks JVS report: board officers set and $2.31M HVAC bid accepted

Mrs. Blankenship reported on the January Great Oaks JVS organizational meeting, telling the Lynchburg-Clay board that JB Stamper of Wilmington City Schools was elected chair and Sandy Harrod of the Hamilton County Educational Service Center was elected vice chair for 2025. The Great Oaks board also appointed Ron Friend as parliamentarian, Mary Cleveland as legislative liaison and Terry Gibson as ACTE liaison and set its monthly meeting schedule.
Mrs. Blankenship said the board nominated Laurel Oaks counselor Ami Brinley for the Eric Scott Compassion Award, an annual honor for staff who demonstrate exceptional dedication and positive impact on students.
The Great Oaks board also accepted the lowest and most responsible bid for the Diamond Oaks rooftop unit HVAC replacement. The contract was noted as awarded to TP Mechanical Contractors in the amount of $2,311,500.00.
