Bern approves $10,444 purchase of body armor; assigns fire police for Arts on the Avenue

The Township of Bern Board of Supervisors approved a $10,444.92 purchase of twelve Point Blank AXII Level II concealable ballistic vests with trauma plates for the police department and granted event coverage for Arts on the Avenue on June 19.
Chief of Police Wesley Waugh requested the equipment purchase and said funds are planned in the Police Equipment Fund and that the township will apply for the partial grant reimbursement it has used in the past. The board approved the purchase on a motion made and seconded; the vote carried.
Waugh also asked the board to assign fire police for Arts on the Avenue on June 19, 2021; supervisors approved the assignment.
The board recorded no additional conditions on the purchases. The purchase will be paid from the Police Equipment Fund; grant applications for reimbursement will be pursued according to past practice.
