The Del Norte County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday unanimously approved updated salary ranges and wage adjustments for the county's unrepresented employee groups, with changes to take effect Dec. 19, 2025.
Board members and staff described the action as the culmination of a yearlong analysis. A county consultant reviewed every position and produced recommendations intended to align pay with comparable counties and address longstanding inequities, county staff said during the meeting.
Jessica King, Administrative Operations Manager for Department of Health and Human Services and lead negotiator for the Mid Management Group, thanked county staff and urged adoption, saying the group's proposals "are standard equitable benefits consistent with our comparable counties" and would help retain employees.
Supervisor Howard moved approval and praised staff and the consultant for the "gigantic step" toward equity; a second was recorded and the vote was unanimous. Supervisors who spoke singled out county staff (named in the meeting record) for extensive work to craft the recommendation and said additional positions will be considered on a subsequent agenda.
The board's resolution, as read into the record, establishes new salary ranges and implements the wage adjustments for those unrepresented groups; the item was presented by county administrative staff and is scheduled to be implemented in December 2025. No specifics about the dollar amounts or the number of positions covered by the resolution were read into the record; the staff report and accompanying spreadsheets were made available to the board and to the clerk.
The meeting record shows the board thanked county staff for a consultative process and cautioned that the remaining classifications will be brought forward for consideration at the next regular meeting. The action was presented as a personnel and budget decision and the approved resolutions will be published as part of the board's official minutes and administrative records.
