Albany council meeting recap: minutes, finances, school updates and mayoral project notes

The Town of Albany council convened March 10 at 6:00 p.m. and approved routine business including February minutes and financial statements.
Councilman Don Onofry moved to approve the February 2025 minutes; Councilman Jerry Glascock seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Councilwoman Kim Stewart moved to approve the February 2025 financials; Councilman Gerald Stilley seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
Ross Kinchen reported that the Planning & Zoning Committee has been meeting monthly and said he has been in contact with Nathan Lipson of WSP about a parish-wide zoning project, and he connected the mayor to discuss options for Albany. Sammie Lacara, representing Albany High School, briefed the council on recent sports and academic accomplishments. The AHS Student Government Association announced a community clean-up day scheduled for March 22, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Police Chief Boyd Wild "informed the council of the number of calls for the month of February" and acknowledged the AHS Student Government Association and Jenny Richardson Fore, who introduced herself as a candidate for Juvenile Court Judge. Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll updated the council on several projects including the Highway 43 sewer project, MPERS, a planned police department building addition, and painting the town's water tower.
The meeting ended with the council awarding the Highway 43 sewer expansion contract and adjourning at 6:35 p.m.
