The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education voted unanimously on July 10 to hire Ron Sexton as superintendent for the 2024–25 school year.
The board approved the hire during a special meeting that followed an executive session. Mrs. Sanderson moved to hire Ron Sexton; Ms. Rhonemus seconded the motion. A roll call vote recorded all members in favor.
The decision followed the board's motion to enter executive session at 4:28 p.m. “for the purpose of discussion of appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of an employee or official,” which the board approved unanimously, and the board later voted unanimously at 5:52 p.m. to return to open session with no action taken during the executive session.
In the same meeting the board approved additional compensation terms for the new superintendent. Ms. Griffith moved, and Mrs. Sanderson seconded, a motion to approve up to ten extended work days at a daily rate of $380; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call.
The board also accepted the resignation of Christy Roberts, effective July 10, 2024. Mrs. Sanderson moved to accept the resignation, Ms. Rhonemus seconded, and the board voted unanimously to accept it.
With no further business, Ms. Rhonemus moved to adjourn, Ms. Griffith seconded, and the meeting was adjourned by President Warner following a unanimous voice vote. The written record concludes with attestation lines for the president and treasurer.
The actions taken — hiring the superintendent, approving limited additional days at a specified daily rate, and accepting a resignation — are recorded in motions 14312-24, 14313-24 and 14314-24 in the meeting minutes.
