Council approves two-year solid-waste contract with Carroll Refuse Service; ordinance amendment tabled

The Denison City Council on June 16 approved a two-year solid-waste hauler contract with Carroll Refuse Service after staff reviewed proposed contract changes. City Manager Garcia said Carroll Refuse Service agreed to the council’s recommended terms; the contract includes a cost increase that staff said will require an amendment to the city code.
Council approved the contract by unanimous motion. Council then moved to table an ordinance amending Section 105 of the Code of Ordinances related to solid-waste control and recycling, giving staff and the council time to adjust ordinance language consistent with the new contract terms.
Council did not adopt the ordinance at the meeting; staff indicated an ordinance amendment would be warranted given the contract changes and would return for future council consideration.
