On unanimous votes, the council approved minutes from April 30 and May 5, billed items, wellness center financials for April 2026, several liquor licenses and tobacco permits, and personnel actions including the appointment of Mariah Knutt to the Housing Board (term expiring May 2029) and the hiring of Ricardo Valdez as a probationary communications operator at $21.16 an hour effective May 20, 2026. The consent agenda also included four fund-transfer resolutions moving LOST, RUT and TIF funds to debt service and a LOST-to-General transfer; all were adopted as part of the consent agenda motion.
Mayor Pro-Tem John Granzen opened a public hearing at 5:00 p.m. on the FY 25/26 Budget Amendment #2; there were no written or oral objections and the hearing was closed. Similarly, a hearing on proposed zoning changes for the City of Denison drew no objections and was closed by the mayor pro-tem.
The council moved quickly through routine business, voting unanimously on each consent item. The meeting record shows no citizen input during the public-comment period. The council adjourned at 6:27 p.m., after returning from a closed session where no action was taken.
