Cerro Gordo supervisors authorize drainage review, approve contract and five tax abatements

Cerro Gordo County supervisors on Feb. 23 unanimously authorized an engineering field review of Drainage District DD 31 after reports of two tile blowouts and approved several routine items including a contract and tax abatements.
Vice Chairman Carl Ginapp moved, and Supervisor Chris Watts seconded, to authorize Bolton & Menk to conduct a field review of DD 31 following a work order (No. 2026-02-19-01) that lists two tile blowouts reported by Cory Lambertsen. The motion passed unanimously.
The action was one of several taken during the roughly 10-minute meeting. Earlier in the session, Ginapp moved — with Watts seconding — to approve the meeting agenda and the minutes of the Feb. 17 regular session; that motion also passed unanimously. Supervisor Chris Watts moved, with Ginapp seconding, to approve claims for payment; that motion passed unanimously as well.
Supervisor Watts moved, with Ginapp seconding, to approve an agreement with Barkema Land Company. The minutes record the board’s approval but do not specify contract terms.
Vice Chairman Ginapp then moved, with Watts seconding, to abate property taxes on five mobile homes. The minutes list the affected vehicles and abatement amounts as follows: VIN S45122CFRF1040570 — $120; VIN 5CZ200R26E1123805 — $96; VIN M603580 — $444; VIN 57H2209 — $222; VIN M602024 — $503. The board approved the abatements unanimously.
County Engineer Brandon Billings provided an update during the session; the minutes note the briefing but do not include the content of his remarks. A public comment period was held, but speakers and remarks were not specified in the meeting minutes.
