Commission approves employee tuition discounts, housing support appointments and routine procurements

Kathy Gross, vice president of strategic partnerships at William Woods University, presented an MOU extending tuition discounts to Cole County employees and their families: 20% off online programs and 60% off on-campus tuition (which Gross said would reduce private on-campus tuition to about $10,000). Commissioners moved to approve and sign the agreement; the motion was seconded and approved.
The commission also approved running a sole-source advertisement for the Knox Company, described in the meeting as the only known vendor whose equipment meets the county's EMS integration requirements for existing ambulances and IT systems.
On housing, the commission voted to sign support documents for West Green Enterprises LLC's application to the Missouri Housing Development Commission. Separately, the commission appointed three directors (names provided in the meeting included Luke Paul Schneider and Tom Jensen; the transcript lists three appointee slots) to the Show Me Home Ownership Assistance Corporation, for which Cole County will be the initial sole member. Staff explained that the appointments unlock up to $10,000 in down-payment assistance for anyone within Cole County, with no liability or cost to the county under the structure described; the county could later opt in as an employer partner to extend additional employee-specific benefits.
Staff also reported an emergency repair due to an outdoor warning siren being struck by lightning and said a procurement contract for that repair will be presented for formal approval next week. A United Way campaign update and donated raffle items (three iPad Airs from a vendor) were also reported.
