Avon council swears in two officers, approves property-damage release and appoints Shelby Farthing to RDC

Avon, Ind. — The Avon Town Council on June 25, 2026, administered the oath of office to two new police officers, approved a release of property damage after suspending the rules to add the item to the agenda, and appointed Shelby Farthing to the town's Redevelopment Commission. All recorded motions passed unanimously, 5-0.
Julie Loker, Clerk-Treasurer, took roll call and recorded council members Dawn Lowden (President), Jayson Puckett (Vice President), Greg Zusan, Robert Pope and Steve Eisenbarth as present. Judge Rhett Stuard administered the Oath of Office to the two new officers identified in the minutes as Sajdak and Redman.
Council member Dawn Lowden moved to defer an employee recognition item to the next meeting scheduled for July 9, 2026; Vice President Jayson Puckett seconded the motion and the council approved it by roll call vote, 5-0. The consent agenda items — the June 25 check register, June 11 work session memoranda and June 11 minutes — were each moved by Jayson Puckett, seconded by Steve Eisenbarth, and approved 5-0.
Under new business, Council member Jayson Puckett moved to suspend the rules to add a release of property damage to the agenda; Dawn Lowden seconded and the motion to suspend the rules passed 5-0. Later in the same item, Council member Steve Eisenbarth moved to approve the release as presented; Robert Pope seconded and the council approved the release by roll call vote, 5-0.
On appointment business, Council member Greg Zusan moved to appoint Shelby Farthing to the Redevelopment Commission; Dawn Lowden seconded and the appointment passed by roll call vote, 5-0. The minutes record indicates legal counsel had nothing to report and no members of the public came forward during either public comment period.
The council announced a work session at 5:30 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7:00 p.m. on July 9, 2026. The meeting adjourned following completion of the agenda.
