Vinton council approves 2026 holiday schedule, adds Mardi Gras; licenses and routine bills also approved

The Town of Vinton Council on Dec. 16 approved the town's 2026 holiday schedule and voted to observe Mardi Gras as an official town holiday, with a directive to add the holiday to the town ordinance at the January meeting.
Council Member Stanley moved to approve the 2026 holiday schedule; Council Member Loyd seconded the motion, and the motion carried. On the Mardi Gras item, Council Member Stanley again moved and Council Member Loyd seconded a motion to recognize Mardi Gras as an official town holiday; that motion also carried. The minutes record that the ordinance language to add Mardi Gras will be introduced at the council's Jan. 2026 meeting.
Separately, the council approved beer and liquor license applications as presented. Council Member Stanley moved to approve the license applications; Council Member Conner seconded and the motion carried. The council also approved the minutes and the November bills: Council Member Loyd moved to approve the November minutes (seconded by Council Member Stanley), and Council Member Starring moved to approve payment of the November bills (seconded by Council Member Loyd); both motions carried.
The minutes do not include roll-call tallies for these motions, and they are recorded only as "motion carried."
