Council approves fence variance at 1423 Cambridge Blvd. after neighbor raises sunlight concerns

The Village of Marble Cliff council approved a fence variance for 1423 Cambridge Blvd. on Dec. 15 after hearing from the applicant and a neighboring resident.
Anthony Severyn, acting on behalf of the village solicitor, swore in applicant Jordan Renda, who described his plan to extend an existing fence to enclose his entire yard to contain his dog. Neighbor Margaret Kukura, who the clerk said was the only caller to the office about the application, said she had been sent the application and photos and asked Renda to consider a different fence style "so that sunlight will still reach the area of her yard that is adjacent to the fence."
Council Member Kendy A. Troiano said the variance before council concerned the height of the fence and that council does not weigh in on fence materials. Troiano moved to approve the variance application for 1423 Cambridge Blvd.; Ms. Sarna seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
What happens next: the applicant may proceed with the fence extension as approved under the scope of the height variance; material choices were not controlled by the variance decision recorded in the meeting.
