Marble Cliff Council approves consent items, contracts and appointments; public works and personnel items remain pending

The Council of the Village of Marble Cliff approved routine and contractual business at its Jan. 20, 2026 meeting.
Council voted unanimously to: approve the consent agenda (including approval of the Dec. 15, 2025 minutes and receipt of December fire, police, and permit reports); accept the December 2025 financial reports; and approve the Franklin County Public Defender contract for 2026 at a fee of $26 per case (the village had one public defender case in 2025).
In old business, Council approved O-2737-25, authorizing a Sanitary Sewer Service Agreement with the City of Columbus, and O-2738-25, a one-year contract for professional legal services with FBT Gibbons, LLP covering Feb. 1, 2026–Jan. 31, 2027. Both motions passed unanimously.
Other administrative notes: Fiscal Officer Stephanie Evans reported residents have saved $108,260 through the village’s electric aggregation with SOPEC since August 2023; Matthew E. Turner volunteered to serve as the village’s new SOPEC representative. Assistant Fiscal Officer Peggy Shanahan reported a street light on Cambridge Blvd. was struck by a vehicle; the service department cleaned up and a replacement will be arranged through Tip-Dan, with an insurance claim to follow once invoices are received.
