Marble Cliff to receive $4.2M in OPWC funding for Cambridge Boulevard project; bids open through Jan. 14

The Village of Marble Cliff is slated to receive $4.2 million from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) for the Cambridge Boulevard improvements project, the village engineer told council on Dec. 15.

"The Village is slated to receive $4.2M in funding from OPWC for the Cambridge Boulevard improvement project," Mr. Zmith said, adding that the village had requested $5.0 million but that only $4.2 million remained available. He said the award is expected to be structured as a $400,000 grant and a $3.8 million loan, and that an additional $800,000 could become available in June.

The engineer said bidding for the project is open through Jan. 14, 2026. He also reported that sidewalk repairs are scheduled for spring and that three new hydrants have been delivered for storage until spring installation. Council was told the Cambridge Boulevard work was incorporated into the recently finalized appropriations budget.

At the same meeting Mayor Matthew P. Cincione reviewed R-2674-25, a resolution on the village's intent to reimburse its Cambridge Boulevard Improvements Fund with the proceeds of tax-exempt State of Ohio debt for the project; the resolution was on its fourth reading. Council later adopted the 2026 appropriations ordinance (O-2735-25), which officials said reflects the Cambridge Boulevard project and other priorities.

Engineer Zmith advised council to re-examine the proposed sanitary sewer service agreement with the City of Columbus before signing, citing another village’s experience with a similar contract.

What happens next: bidding remains open through Jan. 14, 2026, and the village will proceed with project planning and budgeting consistent with the OPWC award and its appropriations ordinance.
