Council considers Army Corps easement renewal and readies sidewalk tree removals ahead of 2025 project; parks grant approved

Grant Downes told the council on Dec. 18 that Anita Bradburn of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Huntington District asked whether the Village is interested in renewing a 20-foot storm-sewer easement into the mill pond. The original easement was signed March 20, 2000 for 25 years and is due to expire in March 2025; Grant said he will contact Ms. Bradburn to request additional contract details.
Mayor Travis Boyd said two trees near Frank Young's property will need removal before the planned sidewalk project can begin; Mr. Young reported he is arranging removal and W.E. Quicksall indicated the company can remove stumps up to 4–6 inches above grade. Mayor Boyd said this must be completed before the sidewalk project begins in Feb/Mar.
Eric White reported the BWC Safety Intervention Grant for a boom lift has been approved and estimated that the award funds will arrive in approximately 6–8 weeks. Council agreed to send the village's portion to Selinsky Force now while awaiting the grant disbursement. The council did not finalize contract terms with any vendor during the meeting.
