Marble Cliff council approves consent agenda, financials; discusses scooters, Packard development and 125th anniversary

At its Aug. 18 meeting the Council of the Village of Marble Cliff approved its consent agenda, which included approval of the July 21 meeting minutes and receipt of the July fire, police and permit reports, and later approved the July 2025 financial reports presented by Fiscal Officer Stephanie Evans.
Assistant Fiscal Officer Peggy Shanahan raised resident reports of abandoned scooters in the Village; Shanahan will consult the City of Columbus for guidance and identify a contact for reporting scooters left for multiple days. Shanahan also solicited ideas for Marble Cliff's 125th anniversary next year; Council discussed options such as a homecoming celebration and commemorative apparel.
Engineer Caleb Zmith reported several operational items: sidewalk lift-and-grind work is scheduled for September; the Roxbury Road mill-and-fill is pending a color specification and cost comparisons; CCTV sewer inspections on Dublin Road are complete and results are pending; three new fire hydrants have been ordered; and bids are being sought for a Tarpy Woods light pole replacement and striping at the north end of the Cambridge island. Zmith also said Columbus Sanitary will provide an updated agreement for the Village to consider.
Regarding The Packard development, Zmith and Shanahan, with fire department members and a homeowner, met representatives to discuss the fire lane turnaround and drainage. Per the final development plan, there must be no parking in the fire lane; Solicitor Yazan Ashrawi said enforcement should be achieved with paint and/or signage and staff will set a compliance deadline.
Mayor Cincione presented Ordinance O-2733-25, amending Section 154.078 (Swimming Pools), for its second reading; no final action on the ordinance is recorded in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
