Marble Cliff to pay $2 million, seek $5 million from OPWC for Cambridge Boulevard overhaul

Mayor Matthew P. Cincione said the Village of Marble Cliff will submit an Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) application for Cambridge Boulevard and related work, asking for roughly $5 million in combined grant and loan support while committing $2 million in local funds. "This is the culmination of years of deferrals," Cincione said, describing the Cambridge Boulevard work as four or five projects rolled into one.
Village Engineer Caleb Zmith told council the engineering team from Burgess & Niple and consultants from REALM have advanced plans to about 90 percent. Zmith said he is finalizing the OPWC application and expects the Village to score well; if the Village receives funding in the OPWC first round, which the Mayor said should be announced in October, bidding could begin this fall.
The proposed package would include water-line replacement, sewer work, street repairs and curb improvements; Zmith also reported the water model is complete and the GIS project is nearly finished, which helped identify improvements that could be timed to coincide with Cambridge Boulevard construction. Zmith added that sidewalk lift-and-grind work is scheduled for September, three new fire hydrants have been ordered, and the Village is pursuing quotes for light pole replacement on Tarpy Woods and striping at the north end of the Cambridge island.
The Mayor said Burgess & Niple will assist with the Village's OPWC application, which staff planned to submit at the end of August. Cincione said the Village will host an Open House for the community in the fall to present the plans and next steps. The engineering team will prepare legislation and public materials in the event the OPWC award allows the Village to proceed to bidding and construction.
