Energy consultant introduces himself, warns of possible rate increases

Steve King of Trebel Energy visited the Magnolia Village Council meeting on Sept. 18 to introduce himself as the village’s new contact after the retirement of Scott Belcastro and to leave comparative graphs of electric and natural gas rates.
King told council that Trebel’s analysis shows the village’s contracted rates are currently favorable to standard supplier rates (AEP and Columbia Gas), but that electric rates may increase 3–4 cents by June 2025. He said Trebel Energy will reach back out between November and February with updated rates to allow the village to consider renewing its contract; the village’s current agreement runs to May 31, 2025. No action was taken at the meeting; King’s visit was informational.
