Magnolia council adopts 2025 budget, continues sidewalk project draws

Magnolia Village Council voted Sept. 18 to accept the village budget for 2025 and recorded continued payments on the sidewalk project line of credit.
Council member Jim Miller presented the budget the council had prepared for 2025; on a motion by Miller seconded by Scott Noble the council adopted Resolution 2024-18 (minutes record the vote as "All Ayes"). Miller also noted the village will be making regular payments of $2,000 plus interest toward the sidewalk line of credit at the Bank of Magnolia and that one additional draw remains before construction begins next spring and is expected to be completed by July 2025.
Miller said the Canal Society may contribute toward the park electric bill incurred during Canal Days (possibly up to $500), with the village responsible for the remaining balance. The minutes note the Stark County Auditor recently completed property re-evaluations and several resident appraisals rose significantly.
Routine fiscal motions also passed earlier in the meeting: council accepted the Aug. 21 minutes and the Fiscal Officer's report and authorized payment of presented bills (each motion recorded as unanimous).
