Wasatch County health and emergency officials brief Charleston on programs and county alert system

Representatives from the Wasatch County Health Department described a range of public-health programs at the Charleston Town Council meeting on June 4, including WIC (women, infants and children), the CARES early-childhood development program, the Medical Reserve Corps that provides medical aid at public gatherings, fall-prevention workshops for older residents and expanded flu-shot access.
As part of routine outreach, Jeremy Hales from Wasatch County Emergency Management outlined the county's alert system and enrollment process. Hales said residents will receive notifications by text, email or phone for flooding, severe weather, wildfires, road closures and evacuation orders and demonstrated a QR code that allows people to register without downloading an app; sign-up is free and the county keeps information confidential.
Council members encouraged residents to sign up for alerts and noted the county programs as resources for town residents.
