The West Milwaukee Village Board on Aug. 19 unanimously approved commercial vouchers, biweekly payroll and a slate of licenses and appointments as part of routine business at its regular meeting.
On a motion by Finance Chairperson John Ragonese and second by Trustee Craig Schaefer, the board approved commercial vouchers dated Aug. 7–19, 2024, covering checks numbered 33352 through 33604 for a total of $257,501.82. The board then approved the biweekly payroll dated Aug. 9, 2024, in the amount of $146,311.52. Administrative Assistant Kayla Casto explained the payroll total reflected first-of-month insurance buyouts and police overtime tied to the Republican National Convention and a School Resource Officer overtime payout.
The board also accepted the village's 2023 audit prepared by Baker Tilly after a motion by Trustee Ragonese, seconded by Trustee Edgar; the vote was unanimous.
In licensing business, Chairperson Craig Schaefer moved and the board approved a Massage Therapist license for Jennifer Sullivan and a Used Auto Dealer license for GDL Auto Sales, LLC. Applicant Maria Torres introduced herself and said she has worked in the car business for 10 years and is opening her own dealership in a building that previously housed a different used-car operation. The board also approved beverage operator licenses for Sierra Clerc and Emerald Ortiz; all license motions passed unanimously.
Trustee Schuettke moved, seconded by Trustee Edgar, to reappoint Alice Zyniecki to the West Milwaukee Police Commission; the motion passed unanimously.
The board agreed to move its next meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, because of the Labor Day holiday. There were no public comments and no public hearing on the agenda.
