Santa Cruz Elementary District board approves proposed 2026–27 budget and payroll resolutions, schedules final adoption July 14

The Santa Cruz Elementary School District Governing Board approved a proposed budget for the 2026–27 school year and a package of payroll and expense resolutions during its June 30 regular meeting in Nogales.

Dr. Dean Fish moved to approve the proposed 2026–27 budget and Dr. Carrie Pottinger seconded; the motion carried with aye votes recorded for Board President Robert Noon, Clerk Debbie Gonzales (by phone), Dr. Pottinger and Dr. Fish. The board scheduled final adoption of the budget for its July 14 meeting.

In conjunction with the budget discussion the board ratified several FY2025–26 payroll and expense items and approved a list of FY2026–27 payroll and expense codes. The minutes itemized ratified FY2025–26 payroll entries (for example, PP00023 $39,447.52 and PP00024 $39,511.40) and expense ratifications (for example, E-2622 $57,556.12). For FY2026–27 the agenda listed payroll codes PP0001–PP0005 at $50,000 each and expense codes E-2701–E-2705 at $40,000 each as the items the board approved to include in next year’s operating plan.

Board members did not disclose additional line-item changes or aggregate totals beyond the codes and example amounts listed in the meeting minutes. Denisse Melendez later presented a budget balance summary that the board approved by motion; the minutes do not include further narrative about fund sources or contingencies.

The board’s next step is the formal adoption vote at the July 14 meeting, when members will consider the final budget document for FY2026–27.
