Superintendent: Mohansic and Brookside projects on track; fields delayed but expected for fall season

Superintendent Dr. Hatter told the Yorktown Central School District Board of Education on July 1 that the district is "trending to be on schedule within budget" for construction work at Mohansic and Brookside.
He said athletic field work fell behind because of a difficult winter but emphasized the delay is not substantial and the district expects the south field to be ready for the upcoming fall athletic season. "We are a little bit behind on the fields. However, we're not substantially behind. We will be able to have that south field as we had planned for the fall athletic season," Dr. Hatter said.
Board members responded with appreciation for staff work during graduations and expressed confidence in the administration's handling of construction and scheduling. The superintendent said weather and winter conditions were the primary source of delay but that the projects are otherwise progressing and remain within budget.
The board will continue to monitor project timelines through the facilities committee, which meets regularly to coordinate architects, engineers and project managers on the district's building portfolio.
