Yorktown board re-elects Lisa R as president; Rashmi Vos sworn in as vice president; routine appointments approved

The Yorktown Central School District Board of Education re-elected Lisa R as board president and unanimously confirmed Rashmi Vos as vice president during its annual organizational meeting July 1, 2026.

Jacqueline Gorino and Michael McNani were sworn in to new three-year terms running July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. The board also approved its slate of district officers for the 2026–27 school year, including District Clerk Avette Seagull, Deputy District Treasurer Denise Sapata and Claims Auditor Steve Robbins; the district clerk administered her oath as part of the ceremony.

Board members completed a package of routine annual business: the board approved a set of designations and authorizations for 2026–27 and passed a supplemental defense and indemnification resolution, all on motions called and seconded from the floor. No roll-call tallies were given on the record during the meeting for these motions; each was approved as stated.

Members spent the meeting confirming committee rosters and chairs for the coming year. Audit committee chair Rashmi Vos outlined a quarterly meeting schedule and named committee members, including community member John Gridley. The AI committee, fiscal advisory, facilities, policy and wellness committees were discussed and alternates named where needed; several trustees said Teams access has eased participation despite daytime meeting times.

Board members said they would flesh out the district's 2026–27 areas of focus at an upcoming off-site retreat rather than during the public session. The meeting ran under 30 minutes and was adjourned after routine business.

The board is scheduled to convene again under its regular calendar and will carry action items from this organizational meeting into committee work and the retreat.
