Putnam County committee pre-files resolution to reallocate $9,316 in tourism funds

The move, presented by Director of Tourism Tara Keegan, is billed as an annual adjustment to better target tourism marketing. Keegan described the request as "the annual request to transfer the County portion of funding" and confirmed the split of $8,000 and $1,316. Chairwoman Russo said there was "no fiscal impact," and Keegan confirmed that statement.
Committee members asked about the tourism-data service the county uses. Legislator Birmingham questioned the Rove system; Director Keegan told the committee that "Rove is a well-recognized company, approved through NYS, and the cooperative database provides valuable information such as how many people come and stay overnight in the County, where they are from and how long they stay." Keegan said Rove provides town-level breakdowns and trends. Legislator Montgomery asked whether the service reports restaurant- or food-service-specific visitation; Keegan said that level of detail would require providing Rove with specific restaurant points of interest and additional budget, and is not part of the current contract.
The committee also formally accepted the minutes of its Nov. 20, 2025 meeting "as submitted" and noted an informational update on the county unemployment rate. With no further business the committee adjourned at 6:09 P.M. after a motion by Chairwoman Russo, seconded by Legislator D'Angelo, which the transcript records as "All in favor."
The resolution to reallocate the I Love New York funds was pre-filed; the committee did not record a roll-call vote with individual tallies in the transcript. The next step is formal filing of the resolution for consideration by the full Legislature per county procedures.
