At 6:00 p.m. the chair called a scheduled joint meeting of the Town of Clayton Board of Zoning Appeals and the Planning Commission to order but immediately adjourned it, saying neither body had a quorum.
The chair said the Board of Zoning Appeals needed three members but only two were present, and the Planning Commission needed four members but only three attended. "So we will, just count this as not a meeting," the chair said, then moved to adjourn.
The chair said the groups will reconvene in August to select new goals and strategy and to "continue working on things related to house enrolled act 1,001 and other issues." No motions were made and no votes were taken because the bodies lacked quorum.
The meeting closed after brief remarks and a final "Thank you." A person the chair addressed as "Mary" was apologized to as the session ended; that remark was a brief closing comment and not part of the formal agenda.
Because no formal business occurred, there are no adopted actions or recorded votes from this session. Officials said the next substantive meeting will be scheduled for August to address the agenda items the bodies were to consider.
