Josh said the conservancy used some C2P2 dollars and is awaiting additional match funding (reports indicated Susquehanna Valley River Basin and other sources were considered); until the deed is transferred the county cannot form a steering committee or assume stewardship. Commissioners discussed the potential for passive recreation — trails, disc golf, a lookout trail — and recommended coordinating with county recreation staff and potential partner organizations to pursue grant funds and site planning once the transfer completes.
Josh said he had reached out to WPC contact Matt Marusiac for updates and that community members have expressed interest in serving on a future land committee. Commissioners emphasized the transfer remains contingent on match funding and approvals; no county spending or development commitments will be made until title is clear.
