The commissioner said the county's office of emergency services is exploring "what it would look like to get like Starlink put in the emergency management vehicle" so on-call personnel have a resilient backup in the event of future outages.
The same commissioner described a temporary closure of the Wreck Hall building while walls, floors and doors are removed during renovation; officials expect to reopen most spaces in roughly two months after major demolition and cleanup. Planned improvements include ADA accessibility, new co-working space and a kitchenette, teleconferencing capability and access to devices for telehealth use. Commissioners noted the lift delivery and related cement work will drive short-term disruption.
Separately, a commissioner noted local recognition for suicide-prevention efforts: the Cameron Elk Suicide Prevention Task Force will receive a Senate citation (and a House citation is expected) in Harrisburg for spreading awareness of the 988 crisis hotline, with the commissioner saying they expected to attend the Feb. 2 citation ceremony.
