Commissioners said the county is "very much under the gun" to move forward because of timelines attached to the grant funding and that proceeding now was necessary to avoid losing the award. One commissioner said, "I'm so excited this project is finally moving forward," as the motion passed by voice vote.
The board also confirmed that Moyer secured the contract for the project lift (a separate item) but clarified that the lift work is administered separately from the renovation contract. County officials said project documents, including change orders and the contractor recommendation letter, will be part of the public record for the grant.
No dollar amounts beyond the announced $300,000 proposed funds and the earlier $506,000 original bid were revised into final contract text during the meeting; commissioners indicated they relied on the contractor's change orders and the director's recommendation in making the award. The board carried the motion to approve the project and funding proposal by unanimous voice vote.
The county said it will schedule any required follow-up project-management meetings and that grant-administration documentation will be supplied to meet the grant standards and reporting requirements.
